Guiding Principles

1

We honor God in all we do

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Colossians 3:17 NIV

2

We honor our patients

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

Romans 12:10 NIV

3

We pursue Excellence

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Colossians 3:23-24 NIV

If you’ve gotten to this part of the website, you must be a bit curious about me or the people who work here. If that’s the case, let me fill you in!

I was born in Brazil and adopted as a young infant into an amazing family in Brooklyn NY. My family was a blend of Italian and Czech but the neighborhood I grew up in was predominantly Italian. You may be wondering if I grew up using the phrase “fughedaboutit” and the answer is yes, indeed I did and still say it to this day! :) My family is still in NY, but we remain very close and they are a big source of love and strength in my life.

Growing up, my grandparents were the owners of a large pile driving company in NY called Falco Construction. From a very young age, I was exposed to the world of construction , but as I grew older, I did not feel much of a connection to that industry. It just wasn’t the right field for me, you know what I mean? Either way, I learned a ton from my grandparents.  My grandparents modeled hard work, passion, and love for our family and I knew that wherever I found passion, there I’d find a calling. They are easily one of the biggest blessings of my entire life.

Back to me 😊. I was a sick child growing up. I struggled with severe asthma as a child and have memories of trips to and inpatient stays in the hospital. My pediatrician, Dr. Jordan Myers was a staple in my childhood and often made house calls for me. He was a gentle, kind and funny man who clearly had fun being a pediatrician. As I got older, he began speaking to me about how he loved his work and asked if I would be interested in learning from him. In addition to Dr. Myers, I had wonderful influence from dear family friends back in Brazil who were surgeons, and through the collection of these amazing people I was exposed to the exciting world of medicine. I saw how it could be challenging, but what I loved most was taking care of people. The patients were not just a constellation of signs and symptoms, they were people and the teams I worked with cared for each one with the love, and care they would use to treat their own family members. I was able to connect with people and care for them. I realized I had a gift and talent for understanding medicine and disease processes. It was with loving encouragement that I subsequently decided I would go to medical school.

I graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008. I completed a residency in pediatrics in 2011 and a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in 2014 (I achieved Board certification in both fields). Since then I’ve worked as a pediatric ICU physician and as a pediatric hospitalist in Des Moines, Iowa. But there’s more to this story and the “more to this story” lays the foundation for how I got to where we are today.

In 2008 I had an encounter with Jesus Christ. An encounter that as someone who has a fundamental belief in science, I could not explain in a natural way.  It changed me. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior and He redirected me and changed my perspective on life. Since then, I have been daily pursuing a relationship with Jesus and learning to live a life that both honors Him and mirrors His life as best I can.

Here’s the “more to this story.” It was during the Covid pandemic that I began feeling like God was calling my family and I into a new season and a new calling. Towards the end of 2021, God was directing Angie and I to walk away from the job I was working and to open a private medical practice. I left my job as a pediatric hospitalist at a wonderful facility in Des Moines IA to begin the process of opening a private practice that would be known as Rapha House Health (RHH). RHH began as an obedient response to God’s plan for our lives. The dream God gave us was that this practice would be a place filled with God’s love and presence, where people could get quality medical care, and if they desired, would be able to have prayer be a part of their care plan. We believe everyone was made on purpose with purpose and because of that deserve the same love and care that God shows us.

I have seen God do amazing things in my life and in the lives of others and we here at RHH wholeheartedly believe in the power of prayer. This is why we offer it as part of our care plans. We believe children are a gift from God specifically made for each set of parents and we, as care providers, hope to come alongside you, the parents, and care for and support your family as you steward the gift God has given YOU. My prayer is that you become a part of our family here at RHH and not only receive quality medical care, but experience the love of God in a real way and be encouraged in the wonderful plan He has for your life!

You are amazing!!

Angie Falco

Hi everyone! My name is Angie and I am the office manager here at RHH. You may be wondering how I ended up here, so here we go!!

I was raised in the Quad cities, Moline Illinois to be exact. From an early age I had big dreams but it took God’s gentle hand to guide me in the right direction.  After graduating from Oral Roberts University with a Bachelors degree in psychology, I was blessed to work with children with Autism and learned a therapy called Applied Behavioral Analysis(ABA), which led me to pursue advanced training in the field. I moved to New York in pursuit of these dreams. It was in NY that I met Joe and we fell in love and got married in 2008. We had our first child in 2009 and I quickly understood that God was calling me to be a mother and raise my children while Joe completed medical school and his training.   After Joe’s training we found ourselves in DSM. Our family thrived here and we found a church that quickly became family. We grew in our faith as a family and began hearing God’s call and will for our lives more clearly as each day passed. We learned to serve the church and community through the love of Jesus and have chosen to follow God’s path in every area of life.

This brings us to RHH!! As Joe mentioned above, toward the end of 2021, we began feeling the tug of God to something new. We weren’t sure exactly what ‘new’ was, but God began to reveal His plan to us, slowly and surely. We trust that God always has our best interests at heart, so it was easy to follow His direction, but the path to get here was not easy. Through each step of faith, God made the impossible possible and reaffirmed His love and goodness to us and through us. We are so excited to be here at RHH. My prayer is that you know God’s love through your experience here at RHH. Welcome to the family!

First off, I am extremely excited and blessed to be a part of RHH. Working alongside other God loving providers to "provide wholeness and healing to our community and our children through God given wisdom and medical science," will be a breath of fresh air and God answered prayers!

I am a proud wife to an amazing, loving, supportive husband, a mother to 4 beautiful, spirit filled, joyous children. I graduated from the accelerated BSN program at Mercy College of Health Sciences in 2009. I have been a pediatric nurse for almost 10 years! I worked at the local pediatric hospital in Des Moines from 2011 to 2021. Prior to that, I was in a family medicine and urgent care facility in Des Moines. I absolutely love my role and duty to provide compassionate care, excellence and valued time to our patients and their families.

In my free time, I enjoy all things coffee, Jesus and occasional naps, but most importantly growing in my relationship with Jesus and lasting relationships with others. I look forward to bringing a smile to you and your children's face, and walking alongside Dr. Falco and Angie in their faith centered practice, Rapha House Health.

Leah Johnson, RN

I love when I tell people about where I work. I feel blessed and honored to work with all the families that come to Rapha House Health. It’s refreshing to work at a faith based health care office and get the opportunity to see God work.

I am a mom to five busy, active kids and wife to an amazing husband. When I am not watching my kids in their many activities I love to read, garden, go for an occasional run, and bake.

I have had the desire to be a nurse from the time that I was in grade school. I have seen Gods healing hands work and knew that I wanted to care for others as a nurse and be a part of those experiences. I received my BSN from Grandview College and soon had our first child. We moved quite a bit due to my husbands military service and I had the opportunity to stay at home with my children. After our kids were all in school I started back in nursing, working as a school nurse and also in a pediatrician office. I have always enjoyed working with children and have felt God leading me to nursing positions where I have the opportunity to care for children. My goal is to give compassionate, loving care to your children. Helping and serving the families of RHH is a great privilege!
